Now that it is “Thursday,” I can forget that I thought yesterday was today! Hoping that lightenup had a successful journey and is enjoying her new home… ;)

We are our parents. Our children are now in their late 30s. They move in lighting speed while looking at their iPhones. We try to be off the streets by noon because they drive at high speeds and do not stop at stop signs. We never beyond 20 miles from home. If we ever go to LA, we take the train. LA drivers are nuts.

I know we all go through that stage of “my parents don’t know anything”, but I’m glad we grow out of it because they give us advice out of loveMy mom called me 2 days ago to give me some moving advice… she said to make sure I had enough duplicate house keys made. Her concern was so sweet that I said I did and I appreciated her thinking of me. Good morning, Cathy clan! You’re close, Mouseworks! I leave today (this afternoon),and will arrive in Spain tomorrow morning. Thank you for your well wishes all, and I hope to talk to you soon!! ♥︎

My two brothers still live under his shadow. They feel that they have failed in life. Sometimes, I still hear my father’s voice. “You could have been so much more.” A weekly newspaper publisher, he was one of the first minorities in Michigan Republican leadership. Robert Griffin, his political ally, was the Minority Republican Senate Leader during the Nixon years. But I was always the troublemaker. My siblings would say, keep quiet. But I couldn’t, especially about supporting Nixon. But most of all, I wanted my life. My sister said, “He was just trying to save your life when he got those orders to Washington DC.” He could have just sent me anywhere else out of harm’s way. He just wanted to steer me into a political career. At 65, I have lived a private life. My wife told me, “I love you more than you love me.” What more can a man have? My father lived for his success. I lived for my family. This was my life, not his.

Speaking of travels — we tried to go to our cottage in Canada today — got turned around at the border. We noticed last night that my passport had expired, so we checked with both Canadian and US immigration and they said “no problem” as long as I had a birth certificate and picture ID — which I did. We checked again when we got to the bridge in Port Huron and they said — good to go. We got to Canada and they noticed that not only had my passport expired, but my hubby’s permanent residence card had also expired about 2 weeks ago. No problem in Canada, but that one would have cost us a huge fine (like $500) coming back to the US if they hadn’t caught it — and they were nice enough to give us a paper that said we had not been allowed entry, so — no fine. We decided to just stay home for the weekend and get the paperwork straightened out before we try to leave the country again :)

Aw … let her have a few, Cathy. Still, technology’s something, ain’t it?

Travel safe, lightenup! Best wishes, and we’re thinking of you here in Cathy’s Corner.

    HI, MOM. Hello, Clan.
