Hey, it’s like I tell my kids. It’s not how the food shows up, it’s the fact that I provide it that makes me a good mom. :-D

While Cathy’s idea of “taking charge of the meal” because she’s “the woman” resulted in a take-out-chicken-dinner-for-two phone call [which is pretty ironic, given that they just got back from the grocery store] . . . I’d say that was probably Irving’s intention all along. Just because it was his idea to go to the grocery store and pick up a few things for a “homemade meal,” that didn’t necessarily mean that he was in any way, shape or form interested in doing any kind of actual cooking with her. I’m sure he fully expected her to do it all by herself — and then she’d just call him in from the living room when it was ready to eat. Probably picked THAT bad habit up from his own father when he used to live at home with his parents!!!

My kids know that if I am the one cooking, they have two choices, spaghetti or takeout. If my husband is home, he cooks actual food. That said, why go shopping if you have no menu?

Well, who feels like cooking after the angst of grocery shopping?
