If you have a credit card, mortgage, car payment, retirement account, passport, job, or phone number under your name, companies (and the government) can find out all sorts of things about you. Good luck trying to hide. Privacy as our parents knew is gone.Good morning, Cathy clan!

The best way to “fly under the radar” is to leave as little an electronic footprint as possible. Some things you might not be able to get away from (as lightenup mentioned), but telling the whole world your business on social media outlets such as Facebook, Twitter, etc., is a completely preventable way of spreading info around that shouldn’t be told to anybody — either because it’s personal and should be kept private or . . . because it’s totally stupid (do you really think people care what you had for breakfast this morning?!?). Meanwhile, with the government/NSA spying on us even worse than we thought they were doing to begin with, do we REALLY want to give them even MORE info on our lives to monitor for “terroristic activities”?!? Because I sure don’t!!!!!

We gave up our privacy when we signed on to the “Homeland Security Act” of 2001. Some of us screamed about it then, but most folks didn’t think it was such a bad idea — so we just accepted it. No point screaming now — it’s 12 years too late.
