MARY WORTH: John has been widowed and has taken up cake baking to fill a void in his life, especially after retiring. But he’s apparently still looking for love. Along comes Mary, who is willing to help him with his cake making. Mary is John’s guardian angel and John wants to express his ardor (?love) for her by topping the cake with a statuette of her – whether it’s baked or carved from plaster/plastic is irrelevant – it’s a pretty good likeness of Mary.

How Mary will react to it we probably will suspect – remember, she is unwilling to “jump over the broom” with Jeff, and she knows John well for only a short time. Will she get angry at John and smash the cake? I’ve never seen Mary lose her temper.

REX MORGAN: People aren’t coming to see Delores in such a bad situation. After all, they’re willing to pay good money toward her rehab.

APT3G: Going back into a burning building is not only false heroism but is putting the firemen, who would have to rescue Greg, at risk. It’s enough that he saved Margo. I don’t see any hoses.

Phantom: P is laying it on the line, when does he run them out of town?

Mark Trail: It looks like we have addressed the issue of taking pictures of the inside of Rod’s truck. Now we have to face the problem of Mark going with Rod on his boat. Something illegal is really going on here. I wonder how long it will take to solve this?

Mary Worth – You heartbreaker, you!Judge Parker – Sam and Abby know how to eat spaghetti.A3G – The fire appears to have been contained to Margo’s room. Aristotle has been helping others out of the building. I hope he doesn’t collapse. He’s panting a lot. OTH, except for the panting, neither look like real people in a real fire, kinda like Nina’s labor and delivery.Mark Trail – IF Bassy’s success depends on how his van is outfitted and equipment organized, having to straighten it up for pictures doesn’t make sense and defeats the purpose of doing the story. But then, we know he’s lying.

See today’s Arlo and Janis for a tip of the hat to Allen Saunders who used to write Mary Worth.

MARY WORTH: Does John have a second statuette for the top of the “Pink Confection”? Himself, perhaps? It would then look like a wedding cake (would that be his idea of a “happy ending”?)

Mary Worth: Does any one think that John and Mary are going to win the first time they try? I think John is in for more of a disappointment than Mary is And I have to agree with SWEETBILL about Mary on the top of the cake. Will the two of them have an argument about it? Tune in tomorrow.

The statue of Mary represents “Mother Nature” so probably no statue of himself. I do wish they would use some different colors and something more imaginative than flowers. But since this IS Mary Worth, they may win.
