Open season on Americans. Look at the number of deaths. Four assault rifle attacks since Sandy Hill. America is the candy store for people who want to kill people.
The reasonable gun laws are already on the books. Like so many things, it is a matter of enforcing the law. Also, liberal America has made it very difficult to put the violently insane apart from the rest of us.
I see the hunter is not carrying an assault weapon. It’s not responsible gun owners we’re mad at but the insanity of letting these deadly assault weapons readily available for the criminal & mentally unstable people in their hands. There needs to be a federal ban on those type of weapons & make them illegal once more.
You are a hypocritical little troll, just that simple. You have done nothing but spout talking points from the left. A couple of days ago you claimed that every one of your arguments was backed by credible sources, yet you refuse to provide a single one, you never have. All of what you rant is basically left wing nut job talking points from the like of the DailyKos, hardly a reliable source for anything for critical thinkers.Your “info” has nothing to do with common knowledge and your capability of doing behavioral observation is in doubt.Your rants contain the same thing over and over, with very little change in the format or order of thought. It’s almost like you have them canned and ready for a copy and paste. You really should stop huffing cans of brake cleaner and try reading something outside your normal echo chamber.
If you thought the partisan divide was bad before, you ain’t seen nothing yet. I thought it would be reasonable to ban manufacture of assault weapons and high cap mags. Fienstien want’s to classify an M-1 rifle manufactured in 1943 as an assault weapon. It has an eight shot magazine and I doubt ever used as a crime weapon. I own one and shoot it in "old military " matches. That’s totally over the top. If I read it properly I have to re-register my California legal Colt H-bar (for the fourth time) and pay a 200 dollar fee. This law as proposed will only enlarge the opposition to gun control, yours truly included, when it should be a rational step in dealing with a small part of our gun violence problem. Oh yes, it will also just increase the membership and funding of the NRA.
‘Actually a federal court did that. It ruled that people could not be locked up and have their freedom stripped away just because they were mentally ill.’Reagan stopped “Revenue Sharing” which gave states (especially the poorer ones) operating funds for things such as asylums for the mentally ill and public outreach programs for treatment and counseling, saying that private sources could do the job better. Doors to the asylums were opened and patients/inmates were shoved out the door to fend for themselves.
it is now that mentally ill have to be a current treat to be held if a person does not take his med and is violent his attorny will see he is on meds when they go to court so out he goes this the results of various court decision in late 50 and early 60 capping off with Community Mental Health Centers Act which accelerated the trend toward deinstitutionalization
Speeches, irate media articles, new laws and regulation are free. Dealing with the real problems cost money and commitment that neither party in our government is willing to put forth. So in the true sense of the word, we will just be kicking the can down the road again…
Wow, you sure have rattled some cages today! This D PB fellow is especially riled…and he refers to your posts as “rants”???Brake cleaner—-what a guy! And ansonia is truly wearing out the “copy a comment in full” routine, only to type his own vapid one line derp-ism at the end…
While the shooting of New York firefighters didn’t work, as to “gun laws don’t work”, it is interesting the large number of criminals who DO end up back in prison, before they commit another crime, other than being “felon in possession of a firearm”. It is interesting indeed how many are “busted” while on probation and sent back to the can.
Also, as a real gun owner, of a number of weapons, and being in a Democratic gun owners caucus, rational gun laws to restrict access to military function weapons is NOT a problem. BTW, perhaps the deadliest weapon out there, especially for “close work”, is a 12 gauge shotgun with 00 shot (9-32 caliber ball bearings in each shell), and 5 round capacity. One shell, fired into a car’s front end btw will kill everyone inside. “Bad guys” may take on a person with a pistol, or even an “assault rifle”, but the half way “bright” ones, will immediately “give it up” when facing a shotgun, unless they’re suicidal.
Yes, it was also a shotgun that has done real damage in some gun assaults, like Columbine.
A posting yesterday, I believe, said only one death has been caused by a fully automatic weapon in recent history.Does anyone remember David Koresh? His automatic weapons including 50 caliber were obtained through gun shows. All in the name of religion.
If we give too much voice to any one positions, we can never find middle ground. My extended recommendations for sensible gun regulation, with a side of less sensible thrown in for negotiation purposes, have been posted often in GC. Extremists can guide the conversation, and instead of a nice relatively straight line down an agreed center, we weave madly left and right in order to avoid the ‘threat’ offered by each. One side that wants all guns banned and/or heavily regulated and too expensive to own/maintain, and the other side who believe banning their freedom to purchase, without background check or waiting period, a M134 Minigun and a nice grenade launcher as backup. These are extremes. There is an easily attained middle. It will take conversation and communication with your legislators. Quiet voices and thoughtful words can be loud in the right ears.Respectfully,C.

Well, as long as it isn’t Lisa’s children, or close relatives in the line of fire from assault weapons, it is okay to protect gun owners and the rich rich from reasonable regulations and a small tax increase on the top 2%. The rest of us 98% can just watch in horror when the next nut job goes beserk with an asssault rifle with huge clips and no mental health care in sight. Everyone bow down to the NRA.
Fast and furious, flawed as it was, showed how trivial it is to circumvent the law and the get weapons into the hands of criminals. The ATF didn’t buy those guns, they just failed to stop the illegal purchases due to the lack of support from Arizona’s right-wing government.
Nice try Lisa. Hardly anyone wants to take away Elmer Fudd’s trusty hunting rifle. This is about a few gun nuts called the NRA, refusing any further limits on how big & powerful their arsenal can be.
What the heck does this nonsense mean? We vote for those idiots in Congress. Admit it: you aren’t afraid of the government, you’re afraid of the people.

You can’t bring that up. That was an Obama-induced catastrophe. It doesn’t count.

I’ll remember that every time some judge releases a violent criminal on bail or parole, who then goes on to kill or injure other people.
