Good morning, Vagabonds. Today is my last full day here. Yesterday was “Merida en Domingo” when the zocalo is filled with little stands where entrepeneurs sell a great variety of things, mostly items that tourists like.
I was sitting on a bench in the zocalo, eating my favorite Merida en Domingo treat: a fried banana with cream, when someone I didn’t know came running up to me. I realized he was speaking in Turkish (I was wearing my tee shirt with the Azerbaijan flag on it and had handwritten something supporting my Turkish friends’ futball [soccer] team). It turned out he was one of the few Turks living in Merida and was excited to see someone with Turkish ties. I told him there was another Turk who owned a very successful Yucatecan restaurant (remember the photos I sent by email of the foods from that restaurant?).
We spent the entire time speaking in Turkish, I’m glad I hadn’t forgotten the language. When he introduced me to his Yucatecan wife, I had a hard time re-adjusting back to Spanish
MLK parade today over in Savannah GA, televised- didn’t go-
traffic& parking a pain- 71 here know- going to sit out and read for a while and skip the pool as the kids are off and/so it’ll be busy over there!
My Atlanta Falcons lost their chance for the Super Bowlyesterday :-( Oh well, life goes on here with some thousandsof disappointed residents………………………………………………..
Shirtsleeve weather around here (well, long sleeves anyway). 41 on it’s way to 66.
My super-Patriot-fan son was very disappointed yesterday. Me? I’m a fan of a good game and the second half turned into more of a blowout. Too bad. Looking forward to the Super Bowl with the Harbaugh brothers coaching the two teams.
Been in the 70s here the last few days, after a long cold snap. On 1/8 the temp dropped to 17 in the wee small morning hours. The seven day forecast calls for mid to high 70s for now.>>>>>>My guys are in the Super Bowl for the sixth time, and I expect them to win. First time since ’98. They won the other five. so why change a good trend? GO NINERS!!

Good Morning, Everyone,
21 degrees right now……got down to 18 during the night. And, it’s supposed to get to the high 30’s during the day.
dkram, I was trying to figure out what “NEK” means in your comments. I figure it has something to do with New England, but the “K” part……??????
Wow……David, the countdown is really getting better!

I agree with you about the game yesterday. The Pats were outplayed in the second half. The beter team won.
