Good morning, Vagabonds. Other than attending an early morning jewish worship service with 5 other Jews who live in Merida, nothing really important happened yesterday.
Morning, Village.Well, we went to the county courthouse yesterday to declare a 65 or older tax exemption. I wanted to declare a homestead, too, according to the Texas Homestead Law, but I won’t be eligible for that until 2014 because I have to be living in the house on January 1 of that year to be eligible. But I will be eligible next year. This means that my county and school taxes will be frozen for as long as I live there.
It’s a good day here in Henderson. Supposed to get up to the mid-sixties today. That’s a good deal warmer than it has been!
My son is flying in to pick up his car today. It has been in the shop since before Christmas. It’s a classic 1963 Rambler convertible, and they had a really hard time finding the master cylinder for it. (He’s trying to sell it and modernizing the brakes would have been faster and cheaper, but it would have cost him $2000 in value.) I went over and picked it up on Wednesday. Driving it, the one thing that struck me was how BIG the steering wheel is compared to modern ones.
We got up to 46 yesterday! Woo Hoo! (and only down to 31 during the night).
Tree work is progressing. They are working their way from the south to the north, and then on the way back they will do the upper portions since the lower portions are now cleared. Fascinating work. They are masticating thousands of small trees that need to be thinned in order to grow healthy. There is too much competition for the water and ground minerals since we have been in a drought for years. Hopefully the trees left will become healthier and resist that pesky Mountain Pine Beetle.
Got up this morning and found that furnace wasn’t working and the house was 62 degrees. Outside temp was 20. It should go up to mid 40s today. Have an electric heater that I am using to take the edge off as I wait for the repair man to get here. He is supposed to be here between 12 and 6 pm. We’ll see if that’s true.
Good day good people..Snow storm this morning with a temp of 22. The snow has stoped but no change in temp..Watching “Larry the Cable Guy”right now, what a scewball, but he is funny. The Dallas Cowboys Cheer Leaders train as hard as the team. What I wouldn’t give to be a mouse in the corner. ;-).ttfn
Repair man came to fix my furnace and found out that there was no gas coming into the house, so I had to call the gas company. He came and discovered that the meter was not letting any gas through. Changed it and was gone in about 15 min. Now the house is getting warm again.

It’s about 70 degrees here, overcast with a very light rain (drizzle). Just another winter day in the sub-tropics.
