Each snow flake, has a little elf sitting on it(green hat stripy pink leggings and red pointy shoes, as seen through an electron microscope) with a long range transmitter, once the pattern has been fully analysed its data model sent back to headquarters (Santa’s Grotto) and uploaded to the mainframe, where they are all cross-referenced. If a duplicate is found a 1 is returned and the universe comes to a grinding halt, the end of times is then upon us.

Nah. The Mayan calendar-carvers didn’t have electron microscopes. Maybe their alien overseers did, though! Whoop!
