I had this exact same experience. Spent five minutes going around and around with a voice activated menu (which didn’t understand me half the time) and became so angry I screamed, “I want to talk to a f—-ing PERSON!”
To which the automated menu politely replied, “Let me connect you with one of our customer representatives.”
I had to stifle my laughter when the rep got on the line.

Do you realize how much the jobless rate would go down if they hired REAL LIVE PEOPLE WHO SPOKE GOOD ENGLISH AND WERE US CITIZENS to actually ANSWER THE PHONES!
The Centre Daily Times is a local newspaper in Centre County Pa (State College/Penn State University). I was having a problem with my subscription so I called their 800 number. Guess what? THE SUBSCRIPTION end of the newspaper is OUTSOURCED TO SOMEWHERE IN THE PHILLIPINES!

Oh man, I hate those things. The one at Qwest was especially annoying because there was NO option to use the keys at all.

It works every time, but it is a rather sad statement of the times. Now you can get farther by being rude and cussing.
