Paid much attention to those who are not religious nuts and how they behave? They behave even worse because they know they can get away with it.

Science is a good thing. Saw a man whose university is developing a new battery that will, if it works as tests so far indicate, change the way we power everything from toys to cars to homes. As a person with “an invisible friend”, who I do believe created this amazing universe, I have a suggestion for my like minded friends who, unlike me, consider science a risk to our society…If the Creator went to so much trouble to make it look as old as it is, pretend it is and let the scientists do their work. If the Creator has given us all these tools with which to learn about the universe in which we’ve been placed, why not wait it out and see what the tools discover. Just as a Baptist does not have to believe as Catholic who does not believe as the Muslim who believes differently from the Sikh etc, etc, etc….You don’t have to believe everything a scientist tells you. Faith can not be debunked, it can only be lost. Science, on the other hand, with funding, study, and understanding CAN, overtime, be tested, proved, and/or debunked.Jailing scientist for any reason other than deliberately causing damage in the pursuit of knowledge is ignorant.Respectfully,C.

People are too happy to have a religion vs. science debate sometimes. This has nothing to do with faith or the suppression of science; those people are in jail because cowardly politicians desperately needed to point the finger and deflect any accusations of being unprepared.

Please link your experts, then I’ll link mine, and we can see whose links are stronger.Climate change may be natural. You can believe that it is not man made if you wish, but will you also say there is nothing man can do to reduce the impact this phenomena is going to have on us?One quick note, a weather man said this morning that the storm called Sandy is behaving in ways never seen in the history of storm tracking and may be an epic storm.Whether you believe in climate change or not, please, if you live on the east coast, make preparations to get yourself and your pets to safety and make sure you have a 3 -10 day supply of water and food. Some books might not hurt either. 5 days without pwr after Isabel made me look at books the tv and computer distracted me from.Respectfully,C.

There are some risks involved to believe everything media is publishing. They don’t always describe all necessary details needed to get the whole picture …

@Baslim the begger, C Downs and others of concern.

Yes, the level of CO2 is increasing slightly in the atmosphere, but that is not a bad thing … Ask the farmers who grow tomatoes in greenhouses at 1200 ppm CO2! They understand that there is not any problems with the “innocent” trace gas … There is an average of about ten times more (evaporated) water in the atmosphere than carbon dioxide. Add to that the water molecule is about four times more effective than carbon dioxide on the “greenhouse effect.” (The word “greenhouse effect” is actually misleading, since inversion is a basic requirement for the effect. Inversion exists only locally and for a limited time, a greenhouse has it continuously! Primary School knowledge!)

Furthermore, the temperature increase stalled to about 16 years ago and has remained relatively constant. In addition, the high temperature levels that presented themselves in the USA this year is no record , as American media tried to present it as. According to NOAA, only one (1) state the temperature record from the year 2000 to present day, five (5) states in the 1990s, four in the 1980s, two (2) in the 1970s, one (1) in the 1960s , five (5) during the 1950s, none (0) in the 1940s, twenty-three (23) in the 1930s(!) and nine (9) from previous years. Go figure!

    Important elementary school skills:

The Earth has always had a changing climate, ever since climate arose about 3.5 to 4 billion years ago. To deny that it has changed, as the climate threat movement suggest, is genuine denial! The word “deniers” are of political and primarily religious nature and have nothing to do with science, which describes the situation very well … Frequently utilized in the Middle Ages …The word “consensus” exist and are used in science, for example, common in basic mathematics, but not significantly in the natural sciences, as it is not relevant (read true …).

Everyone who have completed their task in the school, namely to learn, realize that there are several errors involved the alleged threat of climate change … (Severe statistical errors, tampered data, a.s.o, a.s.o …)

To the ‘toon: as I understand the charges as reported, the geologists were convicted of NOT WARNING people that they had data to indicate an earthquake was imminent. So, they’re actually in jail because they did NOT let folks know of their scientific knowledge, which would make them the “church position” at the time of Galileo.

Also interesting; Ratziner was in charge of the office we all know better as: THE INQUISITION, taking the office in 1981! So those thinking that little office of the church ended over a century ago, are WRONG! It also lasted over 400 years, and was NOT just Spain doing the “nasty” to people in support of “the faith”.

@gricksThe links you provided: The first refers to NOAA’s reference to IPCC’s insufficient material … (Rising sea level at few mm’s – LOL, it is within error margin and therefore negligible! Know your math! Most of the material fail in statistical manners by cherry picking and tampered data …) Do you know how difficult it is to measure sealevels? IPCC et al obviously don’t! The second and third of your links links to newspapers – fail! (The third doesn’t even exist!) What many people outside media miss/don’t know, is that (“green”) leftism is overrepresented among journalists, at least in the western world, even if some of the newspapers and TV networks claim to have any other political position … Go figure!

@C Downs: Yes, crops worldwide are growing like never before (in modern times) Why? Well, simply because carbon dioxide is extremely important food for green plants and phytoplankton. They in turn produce, through photosynthesis, the essential oxygen we need. This kind of rise has happened several times before in history, long before humans evolved as a species, with significantly higher carbon dioxide levels in the atmosphere. Who drove the SUVs back then …? What some have missed is that the oil is made up of organic materials, ie from plants, animals and other species.

Actually, all this discussions are completely unnecessary, since most of it is public knowledge through the mandatory school education. Some slept through or did other things, that meant a waste of taxpayers’ money … Believes, regardless of political and/or religious nature, can never replace reality … ever! Reverse Robin Hood policy (aka “Neo Green” solutions to problems) can never resolve the problems of the world, which actually some see as a solution for the imaginary threat of climate change! (Follow the money!) Threats arise ALWAYS if you can not adapt to the environment. (Lazy by own fault or by “helicopter parents”?) That’s why 98% of all existing species that ever existed on earth are extinct … Implicitly: Adapt or Get extinct …!

@Baslim the begger, you are missing some points …

    1. The chart[s] with CO2 and temperature show that CO2 lags ca 800 years compared to the temperature … This is old news, but ignored …

    2. Climate change occurs in cycles (actual measured data, via ice cores and geological findings eq hard facts) and present happens to coincide with a natural rise … We have relatively recently left an ice age, then rises (average) temperature naturally (knowledge at mandatory school level, at least in Sweden/Europe …) …

    3. " … Changes in local climate have killed civilizations such as Mohenjo-daro or the Anasazi." – Yes, these are natural changes. 10.000 years ago Sahara desert wasn’t a desert, it was green … If your beliefs has priority over reality, reality will run over you sooner or later .. Adapt or Get extinct …!

    4. “… global climate not local weather!” Well, many pro AGW’ers are confused about that and can’t tell the differens …

    5. “deniers” … You are religious without doubt!

    6. “… However, just because someone is a skeptic does not mean they are a denier. That is worth remembering. …” Make up your mind! Either use the term “denier” as religious or you reject it completely, as political/religious terms don’t apply to natural science …
