A few years later, Copley would paint “Watson and the Shark,” one of the most frightening paintings we ever saw.

Click-to-enlarge image can be found here, or here, or at Mr. Melcher’s blog entry.Mrs.George Watson (Elizabeth Oliver) is described by its current-location page. This has the first page of a magazine article (for $14 you can download the whole thing) which says she was a distant cousin of the artist, and an online book recounts a visit by a Colonel George Watson to the artist’s home; but I can’t say for sure he was her husband. The artist’s Wikipedia page and collection (more under Subcategories).Tenth of the 13 works by this artist, that have, so far, appeared in Mr. Melcher’s blog, to also appear here.

It may be good to be the King, but if he touches that scullery maid one more time then I, the Queen, will crown him with this vase.

    She’ll make sure Copley has a vase-plant.

If you’re interested, I posted the information the current-location provided about the painting used in yesterday’s strip there.
