I got a book and a microscope when I was a kid and I was elated! I’m still playing with microscopes now… when I’m not using mine for serious purposes, I sometimes look at things like pollen and feathers.
The book and the microscope are better presents for Gracie than the blonde (probably blue-eyed) fashion doll. If the book is “Gray’s Anatomy”, then all she needs is a scalpel to combine the other three gifts into a satisfying “Vivisect-Me Barbie Playset.”
Gotta gree about the steam shovel, though. Not that little girls can’t appreciate heavy machinery, but it doesn’t fit any of Gracie’s known career trajectories…
