He should have asked for the solid residue of impure carbon obtained from bituminous coal and other carbonaceous materials after removal of volatile material by destructive distillation. After all, things go better with coke….
@ Digital Frog – However, destructive distillation can compromise the structural integrity of the lump as well as the fact that carbonaceous materials are able to create imperfect ionic bonds with the sulfur and thus form an exothermal reaction and ignite the thing. Gasp
