It was African American women who got Doug Jones elected in Alabama. It was African American women who forced a runoff for the senate seat in Mississippi. Many of the close elections have been decided by African American women. And there is one party, and one party only, that has now elected more women of color, including African American, Native American, Latino American and Asian American women to the House and, yes, even the Senate.
For decades, it was said that Democrats took minorities for granted. Asked for their support, but never put them in office.
The last few elections have made it very, very clear that these failures of the past are no longer the reality of the present.
Women, minorities, those with disabilities, those from the LGBTQ community, even very young candidates, and EVERYONE, has a role in the Democratic party — not just to vote, but to hold positions of leadership.
Not to nit pick, but only Mrs. Butterworth ‘in the bottle’ is black (brown). She was ‘played ’by a very white Charlie Weaver in old commercials. Point being Trump just doesn’t like women. And now he’s not thrilled with his wife.
…And White Women, and Brown Women, and Black Men, and Brown Men, and, well, basically ANYONE who isn’t an old, white, RICH, Conservative, “Christian” Straight Man.
