There is more than one way to skin a cat, as the old saying went. The old R’s (before the Nixonian southern strategy) did have integrity. In the South, they were the party supporting civil rights. And, although I did not agree with much of their economic policy, they may have had points as valid or more valid than what I supported. We would all do better if we didn’t demonize those who have different points of view. One can disagree without being disagreeable, you know, and in a pluralistic society such as ours, it is practically a requirement for a democracy to survive.
