Again the media is coming to a wrong conclusion on that UN Report. The report found that there was a casual connection between eating processed meats to getting cancer, not a direct one on one connection like we have with cigarette smoking. A lot of things in our society from chemicals to things that we eat have a casual connection to cancer. During the 70’s so many of these types of papers were coming out that a comedian once quipped that “Leisure Suits (a horrible 70’s fashion trend) caused cancer.”
Good example, Not to mention outliers like this that get too much hype.http://www.medicaldaily.com/drinking-too-much-water-can-be-deadly-new-guidelines-healthy-water-consumption-warns-340604
Boy, do people want to eat their bacon. Me, too, I love bacon. But I do recognize that a diet with lots and lots of bacon and lots and lots of processed meats isn’t good for my health. Yes, I’ll die some day, but there’s sooner and then there’s later. I don’t smoke, even though I know I’ll die some day. And as much as I like bacon, I don’t eat it all the time.
Islam, Jew, Adventist, all say no pork, and it goes back to the Old Testament because even then they knew trichinosis could kill, they just didn’t know what it was, but knew it came from “Miss Piggy”, and they didn’t cook foods that throroughly back then. That’s the reason for many of those dietary prohibitions.
Nitrites and “modern” chemicals used in “prepared” foods, have been warned about for decades, the conclusions of the “new” studies, aren’t at all new.

I went to see my oncologist the other day, and his reaction to this news item can be summed up in just two words;1. Well2. DUH!
