We vacation in Gatlinburg, usually in November. Our wives had wandered off to the condo we were staying in, so Bill and I didn’t have a pool house access card. As the pool house door locked behind us, a noise to our left attracted our attention. A 400+ pound black bear was eating the pumpkins and kushaws used as autumn decoration around the condo office. He was fifteen feet away from us. We couldn’t back up into the pool house, so we had to walk toward him about seven feet before we could veer off to the right to the condo. We walked slowly and quietly, but we did disturb him. He followed us a few feet before he ambled off through the parking lot, heading to the bear resistant (not proof) Dempster Dumpster.
Two new rules… 1 – Always have an access card with you. 2 – Complain about food items being used as decoration.
