It is highly ironic that when they are plump and tender, there is usually enough food around. When you have over bred the ecosystem and are starving, they are scrawny and not as nutritious.

The witch needs a little course in salesmanship. “I love the taste of children” is kind of a strong way to lead off the pitch.
I’ve always thought the original nursery rhyme contradicts itself. It says she didn’t know what to do, but then it tells us that she gave some them broth (without any bread), whipped them all soundly and sent them to bed. So she did know what to do. Whether you agree with or approve/disapprove of her parenting style is another matter.
I’ve been trying to figure out why, for the past couple of hours, I’ve had the music from The March of the Wooden Soldiers (1934, Laurel & Hardy) going through my head, as well as a desire to watch it again. Just now I realized, it must be due to this cartoon.
