That was when Walter Cronkite was reporting the death of JFK.

He also got emotional when Neil Armstrong stepped onto the moon, but I can’t remember if he wiped a tear or not.

I remember that well. I also remember how the Republicans that hated JFK suddenly changed their tune and just loved the man.

    What makes you think that?
Those who didn’t like him, STILL didn’t like him. most of the people I know—-the young ones either don’t care, or don’t know enough about him. the older ones who liked him, miss him. The older ones who didn’t like him then, STILL don’t even now.

    I must disagree with you.

Where I used to live in Michigan it was one of the most Republican areas in the Nation, and there were people who reviled JFK before he was assassinated but after his assassination he became some kind of saint. For another example; Dan Quayle tried to make the comparison to himself and JFK and was shot down dramatically, but Quayle was a Reagan Republican and they hated everything JFK stood for politically, The New Frontier was such a Liberal thing.
