My former union blackballed me out of my job by representing an employee who only had a third of the years I had in at my former job. They would not let me bump his job when my job was eliminated yet they sure didn’t mind taking my union dues out of my check. Crooks everywhere you turn.

Unions started as a good idea with the best of intentions. What went wrong is that people were put in charge.

@Thomas Scott Roberts… you hit the nail directly on the head.

Jay, just tell ‘em that Rita made you do it. It won’t help, but it might make you feel better.

Unions can and do work well. There are also unions that don’t work at all. But they exist for a reason, and the reason is that corporations chew up employees and spit them out at will unless forced to do otherwise. I lived in the south, a union-free “right to work” state. The conditions most laborers lived in would do the Chinese proud. But the rich…oh they lived the good life.

that way you can pay higher prices for products to companies for all the dead weight they will be forced to keep on their payroll

I also live in the South and a right to work state and I have worked for unions. I will take the right to work over unions everyday. I lost two union jobs because the owners had to shut down because of union demands. one union demanded that that a heat treating area be enclosed and air condition instead of being semi open and having large ventilation fans pull the heat away from the workers. the owners caved and the costs to heat treat almost doubled because of the AC and all the work stated going to the non-union shops

I worked in the South, and the working conditions at the companies I worked for over the years were a lot better than anything you’d find in a Chinese sweat shop or slave labor camp.

You have it absolutely correct. Unions became ‘Big Business’ and it was all downhill from there.
