    Right , like Jay doesn’t carry an iPod Touch or an Android Tablet or pager or a smart phone or even a Surface with him at all times

    @x_Tech

    The desktop is still faster, and easier to read.

    I have two desktops- iMacs- one of which I sired over to Chris’ son. The other has an older OS, and a glitch I haven’t had foxed yet that sometimes stops it from booting up without that infernal question mark icon. WhatI use regularly now is my MacBook. Chris now has one too, replacing her old PC laptop. Her daughter has an iPhone and her son and iPod Shuffle. Chris and I both have Blackberrys. No iPads in the house yet.

    My kids wanted me to have a mobile phone (so I got one before my last trip across the country and use it when I’m out of town ONLY) and it is just a phone (no internet) because I like a big screen and this monitor lets me read easily. I only check emails once a day (as most are not personal, but groups I’ve joined and health or political newsletters.

    I also check FB just once a day and respond to the updates from friends, but I keep Skype on constantly and hope to hear from my lover (I’m pathetic) and often hear from youngest son (who is also lonely since divorcing his wife) and we play with his birds. I hear from the other kids with some phone (land line) and emails although they all know I prefer Skype.

    I joined Twitter almost two years ago, and have done very little with it. Somehow it doesn’t motivate me.

    I have one computer, one pay-as-I-go phone (does have text, but I use that rarely, and use the camera once in a blue moon to take reminder photos), no kindle, no iPad, no iPod, no nothing-else technologically speaking. I have other plans for my money.

    Looks like the rest of my comment went away. Oops.

    It’s true that checking email can become addictive. I check mine in the morning, and then once more after my evening meal (supper here, dinner elsewhere). Any more than that is overkill.

    Me too. I never know when I might get an email telling me a new chapter has been posted on a certain Wattpad story I have been following. ;)
