Why surprised? They screwed up the first movie by changing the entire thing by wiping out the history that led to the Star Treks everyone is familiar with.

That would ruin it for me too.

JJ Abrams should be taken out and made to do the Kardashians shows instead of ruining good shows.

GAAAHHH! It’s entertainment, not history, folks.

Enjoy it for what it is. Or don’t. Roy may be disappointed in the story, but he’s still going to see the movie again. He, at least, has accepted the fact that he didn’t write the story line.

When YOU write the story line, then you can take the story anywhere you want to go. Up until then, stop whining that JJ Abrams isn’t true to the Trek you are used to viewing.

The problem with enjoying it for what it is is that you went to see it for what you expected.
If you went to see “Gilligan’s Island” and discovered a movie with Tom Hanks and a volleytball you would be disappointed no matter how good the movie may be.

How did Jar Jar Binks become the bad guy in this movie?

Exactly! But, unfortunately for us, it will probably do very well at the box office, which means more of this “Star Dreck” will be coming our way.

Exactly right. Paramount sacrificed principles for profit. I’ll never see a J J Abrams or Star Trek productions again.

Now, they hardly changed the entire thing or ‘wiped out the history’ of the Star Trek franchise. The writers took some liberties which, I thought, were actually (or certainly could have been) in line with the saga and full story line. The first movie was excellent even if not perfect and I am also very much looking forward to seeing the next at least once…or twice. If all folks want to see is exactly what was, the reruns and DVDs remain available!

Well, maybe not ‘pity’ and definitely not derision but I agree that they do risk really missing out!
