Ae you saying you’re not familiar with the 1970’s animated “The Hobbit” from Rankin/Bass? Do a Google image search and your question will be answered.

What happened was that Ralph (Wizards) Bakshi was contracted to do the entire LOTR as an animated project. In the end he only did one movie that went to the end of Helm’s Deep- halfway through the second book, and stopped. The studio sorta promoted it as the entire story. Rankin Bass did a television presentation of RETURN OF THE KING in the same style as their HOBBIT, including an older version of their same Bilbo. At the time, no one did the second half of THE TWO TOWERS, so their was no animated Shelob.
