You realize of course that they will just tell the sheep to ignore the facts and have faith.
    Much like they already do.

&, if I’ve got the story correct, it’s called the “God particle” because they wouldn’t let Higgs call it “the Goddamn particle”…

Stephen; you do realize that quantum physics supports much of Buddhism’s philosophy, not much the “bible view”. The fact that the “solid” “real” world, is mostly, well nothing, IS proven by physics.

When I was studying Quantum Mechanics (so I could repair Volkswagen Quanta), the maths broke down at the boundary. There was a serious inconsistency. Now the atheists have wandered into that mathematical inconsistency and say they have an irrefutable proof that God does not exist.

The philosophers I respect all say that it is impossible to prove that God exists or the God does not exist.

Those who agree that the latest experiment proves that God cannot exist are not following the philosophical Standard Model.

Yeah…except philosophy lost its last link to science back around the late 1800s, when psychology split off from it — say around 1890 when William James wrote his book on psychology.
I do find the aggressive atheism of some folks annoying — the best science has done is to prove that God is unnecessary, not nonexistent, regardless of what you may think is the case — but I don’t think philosophy is your best weapon.

Actually, that was not Higgs, it was Leon Lederman

Its a world wide experiment (with some 5000 people involved all over the world) and the final was made in a Large Hadron collider located in France. But I guess it shouldn´t be surprised if some people twist it to be some american acomplishement.

A Higgs Boson walks into a church.
The priest says “We don’t allow Higgs Bosons in here.”
The Higgs Boson says, “But without me how can you have mass?”

Sorry liberals, the Higgs Boson won’t make socialism work either.

But it will ensure the right wing will get their just reward.

    @walikingmancomics:
yes you’re right, they wouldn’t let him call it that “goddam” particle, at least not in public. BTW, Mr. Higgs is an Atheist who does not like having it called the god particle.
    ………………………………………………
“god” is an invention of people who wanted to explain things they couldn’t figure out. Then the concept was taken over by control freaks to keep people frightened and “in line”. It’s like telling children that Santa Claus won’t bring them presents on the 4th day after the winter solstice, also called xmas.

And anyone who doubts that should read a very interesting book on quantum theory called “The Tao of Physics”.

Well, there were Americans involved. I guess we’ll find out when the Nobel is awarded.

Ever notice that when men create gods, they also create armies, and war? Wisdom is asking the questions, and NOT making up your own answers to give yourself power.

My cat is rubbing her head on my foot, so to me, for the moment, she is “alive”.

Let us remember that one cannot prove a negative. No human being has theability to prove that life does not exist elsewhere in the universe, or that God does not exist.
