Every time I see the statue I am reminded of the lines that my greats had to stand in to be processed at Ellis Island to legally enter the Country.

Too bad the First Nations peoples didn’t have an immigration policy that kept our ancestors out of the americas. The first white people that invaded systematically slaughtered the natives in a wanton orgy of violence and depravity. The tribes of the Caribbean islands were totally wiped out in a holocaust of total genocide. In the north american continent alone there were over 10 million natives when Europeans first arrived. By 1900 there were less than 250,000. Also over 10 million Africans died from various causes during the slave trade.

oh please, they were just ruthless as the white settlers. If you have that much white guilt go do something about it.

There’s nothing wrong with the current immigration regulations (other than the fact that following rules is something that liberals just don’t understand).

Immigration is good for America. Illegal immigration is bad for America. Making any attempt to legalize a population that consists in the main of repeat criminals (often violent ones) who have little or no education, are often in poor health and have communicable diseases like TB, lack useful job skills, and in general are just a drag on society is clearly a mistake.

When the economy went bad in 2008, many illegals went back to Mexico because the job market dried up. The solution is to go after the EMPLOYERS – if there aren’t any jobs then there is no incentive to come here illegally.

Any employers get a slap on the wrist at most – e.g. WalMart employed illegal immigrants to clean their stores, even locking them in – paid a pittance of a fine compared to what they saved if they had paid minimum wage to legal workers.

Some employers even call ICE themselves right before payday.

There are a lot of farmers complaining about crackdowns on illegals – they have no one to pick their produce as the work is VERY hard and doesn’t pay much.

But… but those are jobs that hard-working Americans would take if they could! Well, except that they can, but they’re not.
I wonder how many pro-crackdown people here would be the first to complain about rising prices if these jobs were taken by Americans who demanded a living wage and benefits? Sorry, Farmer John, but you can’t get out of paying Bobby from Alabama by calling La Migra on payday!

No your wrong, most of the native Americans were wiped out from disease, much of what you say has some but far less gruesome merit.

As for the Caribbean Islands we had very little to do with that, the virgin islands we did not take control of till 1916, Puerto Rico 1998.

Must be nice to be able to criticize everyone, tell me what is your country.

Maybe you should read a book titled “Empire of the Summer Moon”.They were treated the way they were because of the things they did.

Since this was printed in a U.K. publication, I’m just curious how the English are feeling about their immigration policies these days.
