    You mean the USA prop up a dictator like Mubarak should have been done? How is that good. Even so it is the military hat is the real power here.

    Other than coercing them into electing the person brought in by the US to be in charge?

    Democracy means that they get to elect their leader. It doesn’t mean that they are going to elect the leader that WE want them to have.

    And when you come down to it, the cartoon is right. It IS an unstable situation.

    Wrong. Obama did the right thing. You would rather have Obama invaded Egypt in another Shrublike war of aggression against our Muslim neighbeors for their oil, wouldn’t have you?

    The problem was that Egypt rushed into large scale democratization (unfortunately like nearly every other country). It takes time- best to start at the small scale (city councils). Most ordinary Egyptians aren’t extreme Islamists (they know their country depends on tourism that the Islamists are sure to kill), just pressured into this mess.
