Snowden is a gift that keeps on giving. Wow.
I’m impressed the South Americans are milking this for all their worth. A little over the top making it a regional conflict between the Southern Americas and Old Europe, with the USA in Northern America providing the pressure on Old Europe, who also used to be colonial powers. Perfect for stoking things up.
The Bolivians are right, of course, a diplomatic plane should never have been hindered.
But Argentina’s Cristina Fernández de Kirchner is another populist raking the coals to distract from poor performance at home.
(Portugal, one of Old Europe who refused overfly/landing permissions, is too busy with its own internal economic and government crises to remember to apologise like France already has)
If folks thought the USA had lost its knack to pile on pressure on European countries, look no further than this latest debacle involving Snowden.
