@Ms. Ima

Isolationism in the 2nd millennium is not feasible. You write well, Ima. You write very mean things and you write things I would expect to hear from a person with little education or a very limited world view/paradigm. But your spelling and grammar is better than mine often is. It is definitely briefer.
The absolutes you espouse in your comments do not behoove you, nor do they elevate the debate. Is your mind open enough to accept the possibility you might be missing something?
Respectfully, but still expecting to be told to do something biologically impossible,

C – @Ima is very much set in its ways, so why waste the energy? It’ll just ignore your post and berate you with its own version of it, as well as use generalities against Democrats and/or liberals.
Oh… and I call that “person” an “it” simply because it comes across like the old AI program ELIZA. Until it proves to me that it is human, I’ll continue to flag its posts and let it get in to trouble.

Because clearly Capitalism had nothing at all to do with the GLOBAL economic issues, right? RIGHT?

Ima is a cheerleader for the ultra conservatives, and, in my opinion, a paid commentator whose mission is to keep both sides angry with each other instead of actually talking about the issues these cartoon raise. I tend to call her/him she as the name is similar to my Aunt Ida who would have been anti obama simply on racial opinions prevalent in 1965 Mississippi. She passed in the 70’s and except for her racism was a nice woman active in her church and community.
The only way Ima can berate me is if she actually supports her hate speech with facts and stops dealing in absolutes. Of course she could also catch me repeating information proven to be wrong. If she did, she would be elevating the conversation and that would be a good thing.
Also, I used to run across this field where a bull was kept. He would sometimes chase us and a few times made the fence shake when he ran up against it. Wasn’t smart, but, it was fun.
Thanks for trying to watch my back Ketira. I enjoy your posts almost all of the time.

Sorry, but I disagree. IMA is pithy (definition: Precisely meaningful; forceful and brief).

You and KATIRA keep posting he’s a paid commentator because you don’t like what he has to say. I don’t consider him an "ultra-conservative, just a conservative, like me (I also have a pronounced libertarian streak.). And I don’t consider myself ultra-conservative. But then, many people consider anyone conservative, “ultra-conservative”.

If you want to criticize anyone who trades in “hate speech” and “absolutes”, I suggest you start with TRUSTED MECHANIC. But you won’t, ‘cause he’s a big lib.

I enjoy his pithy comments. It puts libs in their place quickly and concisely. He doesn’t “keep both sides angry with each other”, just libs that are already angry with anyone who disagrees with them.

But I agree, the name reminds me of Ida, but he’s explained in the past he’s a he. I’ve had this problem in the past, I think with a regular poster named KAT something-or-other. I kept referring to him as a she, and he kept correcting me, but it just wouldn’t stick, because I think of “cat” as feminine:-) (He was a douche, anyway.)

BTW, you never reply to my comments to you, and I consider them very respectful, because I respect your respectful attitude. I even agree with you once and a while.

PS: KATIRA: Everytime you post that’s you’ve flagged someone, I flag you. Just thought you should know.

Thank you for letting me know which pronoun to use, and I do respect and admire your loyalty.
I am sorry you have missed my replies to comments you have made to me. I can think of two off hand. One of the reasons I dislike this forum is it has no tool to let you know when someone has replied to a comment. I assure you, I have replied to several if I saw it before it vanished into history before I saw it..
You will be hard pressed to find a commentator who is more willing to call out both sides for their failures to unify our nation, however…Trustedmechanic has never directly addressed my comments whereas Ima and a few others have.
I don’t want to put anyone IN their place…I want us to find a better place, and we cannot do that if we are TOO pithy.
Don’t worry, Churchillwasright, I am looking for a more productive place to exchange ideas with people looking for solutions instead of just slinging mud. Would you want to know if i do?

Would you want to know if i do?

Sure. I don’t know if I’ll have the time to play, though. As it is there are times, like the last few days, that work keeps me too busy to respond.

As far as GoComics format, it just plain stinks. They should have “nesting” (I’m not sure if you know what that is) and an alert system to notify you if someone responded to you. It’s easy to put in place. has a system like this. I wouldn’t be surprised if it was a matter of “you get what you pay for” (with the “you”, in this case being GoComics, not us). I don’t think they wrote the “comment” software, it’s something they lease. They’re probably locked into a contract, and couldn’t change their format if they wanted to. Whether they’d want to is the question.

You have to remember this is a ‘toon site. The images are fleeting, and so are the threads. Some artists are so prolific they’ve got a new toon up every day (Toles comes to mind.) I’ve actually had conversations that spanned several toons, lasting nearly a week. But this site really doesn’t lend itself to that.

I don’t think there’s anyone on this site that writes longer, more detailed posts, along with links, than me. But pithy is good, too, and sometimes I throw out a one-liner. (Again, remember, this is a comic site.) Twitter is a good forum for pithy. In the end, it doesn’t really matter; it winds up in the ether anyway. Much of the time, I’m not even trying to convince the person I’m arguing with, because I’ve been reading their posts for 3 years already, and I know it’s a waste of time. I’m trying to convince the (possibly hundreds, dare I say thousands) of readers out there who read the posts but don’t participate. (Do you know that GoComics gets almost 600,000 unique visitors every day?) I don’t want biased, erroneous viewpoints to go unanswered. “Silence supports the accuser’s charge” ~ Sophocles Just doing my little part.:-)
