    And now they’re nearly extinct. Their dawn chorus (or pibroch) is seldom heard in the south, these days.

    The pibroch (or piobaireachd) drew the wild haggis which feed on pipes and pipers.

    Free-range pipes sound better! Nowadays, most producers use cruel bagpipe factories, where the poor pipes don’t get the right feed and exercise.
