I won’t be voting for Mitt, but if we were all held accountable in later life for our behavior in our pre-voting years, damn few of us would even be allowed out without a keeper.

There’s a Good Reason some kids have a leash, from first walking to first playground, and clipped to the clothesline other times…

I, too, will not be voting for Mitt, but I agree that all this “etch-a-sketch,” dog on top of car, and bullying stuff is pretty childish criticism

Uh, why isn’t this strip in the editorial section?

We all agree we did stupid pranks as a kid (raises hand sheepishly)
- the difference being, mine (and most teen pranks) didn’t target weaker individuals simply because they were different-gay, minority, poor, smaller—they also weren’t wolf-packs beating up on an individual. So, yes; it was a long time ago, and no; I was not the same. And that’s why it shouldn’t be swept under the rug.Andy said, about 1 year ago
What the hey; is with the strike through; I simply used semi-colons correctly…

I agree that the dog, and bullying is generally irrelevant, (although even today Mitt shows no remorse for the bullying which is pretty despicable), but the etch a sketch reference comes from this year when his campaign Manager stated that it didn’t matter that Mitt made a bunch of insane promises to the extreme right wing during the primary, because when the campaign started he could just shake the etch-a-sketch, and have all new principles and the old ones would just vanish.
My biggest problem with the strip is that I imagine the young cartoon Mitt to look more like Richie Rich than Dennis the Menace.

@linusbern
Ps. Contrast Mitt’s “sorry if anyone was hurt by my violent bullying (shrug)” to Obama admitting to his own act of childish bullying without anyone bring it up and stating genuine remorse as an adult for what he did as a teenager.

You make a good point. However, with at least 50 million people in this country who could technically qualify to be president, you’d think we might be able to find a few that have been exceptional throughout their lives.
In the other hand, those people might not be interested in that particular job. I know I wouldn’t be.

In American politics, you get what you pay for. While none of us can bury our childhood peccadilloes, a lot on money and spin doctors go a long way to paving them over.

When he was a kid, Obama was not called Barack, but Barry.
Anyway, do not vote for a bully for president.
And it makes no difference whether the victim was Gay or not. Bullying is wrong, no matter what.

Link this episode to putting the dog on the roof and you have a person who cannot get past his own skin in order to empathize with others so no surprise he is an elephant.

I only hope that Li’l Mitt doesn’t continue as a recurring character…

The forced haircut incident happened to a kid in my highschool, too. New kid had long hair back in the ‘50s and some seniors decided to “teach” him. The new kid started swearing using words the nuns didn’t want to hear and they took care of him. But I think the principal took care of the seniors.
I’m surprised that Romney’s affair is causing so much controversy.
