It is for kids. Adults have outgrown the cult of magical selfishness.

OK. THAT’s funny. Ms. Objectivism is long overdue for an appearance here.

Fox is pretty much an evil fairy tale network of ogres, witches, and trolls managed by zombies.

Clearly, the folks at Fox never watched Mr. Rogers. He did indeed teach that everyone is special – and so they are, because being special doesn’t mean that the world owes you anything, as the Fox folks contend. Rather, as Mr. Rogers said repeatedly over the years, it means that each of us deserves respect from the get-go, that we are worth being loved, and that we can achieve anything with education and hard work, no matter who we are. The problem is that Mr. Rogers taught us to respect each other, and that is a value Fox abhors.

does fox still the believe the rumor that mister rogers was a marine corps sniper who killed 50 guys? maybe fox were the ones reading our emails and wiretapping us in conjunction with the nsa. they did admit to hacking in the uk and bribing police.

Just what we needed; another religion based around a science fiction author.

Ms. Rand was also vehemently pro-choice (“Abortion is a moral right- which should be left to the sole discretion of the woman involved”) and anti-religion, and intensely disliked President Reagan, but I doubt you’d hear Fox News mention any of that. They’d rather play up the philosophy that the worth of a human being is reflected solely by their bank account(s).

The new show’s original title was; Gettin’ randy with Rand but they had to change the name when Fox changed the time slot.

As an admirer of Ayn Rand and supporter of her philosophy for nearly 50 years, I can say with authority that very few people who criticize her have any deep knowledge of her thought. An all-encompassing philosophy needs to be complex, so learning it is no easy matter, especially considering how much of our childhood upbringings must be overcome. So fully understanding Objectivism requires reading and understanding at least half a dozen or so of her books. Her critics typically have read one or two and have been scared off by the challenge to be rational, leading to the bromide that Ayn Rand is a phase that the young grow out of. I and thousands of others are proud to prove otherwise.

(So some of you may wish to attack me personally without knowing any more about me than what I’ve said above. Just remember that ad hominem attacks are an admission that you don’t have any better answer.)

Ayn Rand glorified a terrorist who dynamited a building someone else paid for in The Fountainhead.

“There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old’s life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs.” —Paul Krugman

In The Fountainhead, Rand glorified rape. In Atlas Shrugged, she justified murder. “Heroes” like her we don’t need.

Atlas could not shrug, supporting the earth was his punishment for hubris. That was his eternal duty, dictated by the gods, and upheld on one instance by a demi-god. But some choose to ignore the 3000 year old truth, that to whom m uch is given, much is expected.

Hubris is the flaw of all Rand’s “heroes”, and ultimately the irresponsibility of the author and the “educators” of her adherents, as well as the adherents themselves. Church of Scientology and the Klingon Faith have similar adherents, but far more than Objectivism. A simple claim that one does not dedicate the time to “get” Rand or Objectivism is a blind ad hominem attack, for many of us who have studied Ayn Rand and the works she later blamed on others. A greater study of geopolitical and critical thinking will ultimately lead all but a few to regret the time wasted, unless they can profit on it.
