With its tortured perspective, gritty realism, and outlandish urban humor, Derf’s The City has kept an outsider’s beat on current events, trends and out-there aspects of contemporary culture since 1990. Whether depicting the coarse insanity of modern urban life or the ultra-clean realm of the feature’s only recurring character - White Middle Class Suburban Man - Derf uses dissonant humor to speak up for what he calls "the common schlub."

I’m happy to report that there are quite a few people in my neighborhood who are bucking the trend. My gym is a veritable ant hill of activity all day long

Ah yes, bad-mouthing our military again. Something you do SOOOOOOO well! If this twit tried to keep up with any of the recruits in Army or Marine basic training, my money says he’d be dead in two days, which as far as I can see would be good riddence to bad rubbish.

Are we all starving, as the tv commercials nag us to ‘feed the children’ in America, or are we fat pigs. However, the delivery drones are a fabulous idea. Bring them on!
Signed, a dog food eating, starvingly fat senior citizen.

He’s not bad-mouthing the military, he’s pointing out how unfit most of today’s youth are to qualify for service; in an article in Michigan only four days ago, “based on estimates from the Department of Defense, 75 percent of young Americans can’t serve for three primary reasons: they have not graduated from high school, they are physically unfit or they have a criminal record.”

the drone-piloting will all be done by children, as in “Ender’s Game”
