I wonder if this is how the Romans felt as the Visigoths descended on the city…

well, you DO have to admit that saying NO! to everything would cost less… (That government that costs less saves me money…)

Well, Air-Eng, the cost/benefit of saying “no” depends on what the question is. The long-term cost of a “no” could be astronomically high, perhaps costing even your very life. One example: if we don’t change our farming practices, there WILL be a devastating global pandemic. 99% of our poultry comes from factory farms, with the birds packed so tightly that they can barely move, and standing in their own filth. The birds have been selectively bred to the point that they can barely stand up on their own and virtually no natural resistance to disease. So they’re pumped full of drugs so that most of them can survive until slaughter. The 1918 “Spanish flu” pandemic killed at least 24 million (perhaps far, far more) people worldwide, and perhaps as many as 1 in 4 people in the U.S. fell ill from the disease. A 1997 study of victims that had been buried in frozen ground in Alaska originated in chickens. Farm conditions were far better in 1918 than in 1997, so despite our medical advances, our “modern” farming methods have created an environment that is absolutely perfect for creating the next supervirus.

I’m certainly willing to pay higher taxes if it means that we’ll be safer (from foreign invaders, criminals, and environmental threats), if it makes our country stronger (better infrastructure), or if it makes our people better (better education at all levels). People or companies left to their own devices will typically serve solely their own needs. With a weaker government, we’re all more susceptible to the ill effects of people or companies who will advance their own causes regardless of the impact on others.

The Left worked mightily to portray the Tea Parties as racist, but that didn’t work because it wasn’t true. So now the Lefties are trying for infantile and ignorant. Odd, but that’s how I’ve long thought of the Left. Infantile and ignorant also describes this cartoon.

what the left tries to pass off as thoughtful, to any one capable of cogent thought comes off looking just plain brainless

@pschearer A little reminder: cartoonists have been portraying the New Year as a baby for over a hundred years. And of course this year we have to tolerate the newest crop of shiny, self-serving, sock-puppet “politicians.”

Now, how do we get free medical care and the wages of our elected officials. Why can the one form MO build a million dollar house in D.C……………….

@pschearer - If it’s infantile and ignorant, you’re in the right place.

I wonder if liberals will ever comprehend the difference between people who expect a return on money they were forced by law to pay into a pyramid scheme and people who just want something for nothing. Probably not.
