Art holds a mirror up to Nature. The Buckets come along, turn the mirror on Art and say, “Look how goofy you’re acting. Now get to work, Art. Your kids need an Xbox 360.”
The Buckets comic strip isn’t a parody of family life. Parodies are filled with hearts and rainbows or enraged tirades and dramatic confrontation. The Buckets, though? Nope. Real life, baby. It’s funny because it’s on a page and not in your house at the moment. Next week, when it’s happening to you, you’ll thank us for reminding you that it’s supposed to be funny.
Greg Cravens looks in the mirror and see not himself, but all of us. And then he draws up the silly, grand, goofy, thrilling, utterly human things we do and calls it The Buckets.

No, Toby, today you learned that the classroom is NOT a democracy.
And neither is the home.

Democracy isn’t dead It’s only wounded.

Much of the furor over democracy is over misplaced democracy, where it was unintended and unfeasible.

Idiocy isnt something you vote on it on general concensus…

No it’s not, but school is a benevolent dictatorship.

@Plods with Beer ( did I mention beer? )
Or, not so benevolent.

@sleeepy2
Mostly so, but there are some that’ll never ever be benevolent, no matter where they are.
Penny Robinson Fan Club said, 7 months ago
No, you learned that simply having a “consensus” does not make something so.
Hunter7 said, 7 months ago
So right on that “consensus” thing. Four of us turned up for the 2nd class on Saturday. We voted to have a workshop on Swimming Dragon. Didn’t happen.
.
School doesn’t let you vote on the big stuff. But Toby could have gone for a treat day. After all, moms or other parental units love being told they need to supply 2 dozen brownies at breakfast.

And neither is the United States. We are a Representative Republic not a Democracy.
Night-Gaunt49 said, 7 months ago
Democracy in school never was. So are most of the Bill of Rights.
