I’d like to see a basketball game played that ends when one team scores 100 points. No time limit, although I’d use the standard 12-minute “quarter” as a unit of reference (thus, if the game were to end in the third quarter or the sixth quarter, that would be fine too, just as long as one team ultimately gets to 100 points first). All the other rules for basketball would remain the same. I figure with this format, the first half would be offense-oriented for both teams, but as one or both teams begin to get closer to 100 points, the game will shift to a defense-oriented game. Any takers?

I like it, but maybe a different total for pro and college.

10 5 minute games would probably take over 3 1/2 hours to complete … I’d cut back on number of time outs that can be used in the last 5 minutes (or, keep the number the same, but only have the clock stop and not allow huddles at courtside). I only watch games that I’ve DVRed and now I enjoy the game much more.

Wow, what an idea! Nine games a day could save baseball.

College basketball scoring seems to be WAY down. The refs won’t call fouls so the defense rules, and the one-and-done rule prevents players and teams from achieving their potential. Not that I care, when does football season start?

That sounds a lot better than her idea. A fan cares about the game itself, not just the end result.

I’d rather see first to 21 with no time outs. And automatic points to the other team for not trying.

This is the way pickup games are played – doesn’t matter the score to win – just the concept. Oh, yeah, and you have to win by two. Among other changes, this has been at the top of my favorite wish list. Good thinking.
