    At least you included the best mascot in all sports – the Phillie Phanatic!
    Dave Raymond was his “best friend” for many years, and then Tom Burgoyne took over from Dave.

    I think that’s the “irony” part. Usually you wear a costume so people don’t know who you are.

    Right. The way to be ‘in disguise’ for a school mascot is to go sans mascot costume. Of course they could just check off what mascots are there and then guess he’s the mascot who hasn’t shown up. Anyway I think it’s clever.
