I think that’s the “irony” part. Usually you wear a costume so people don’t know who you are.
And here I thought the irony was that the Sharks still haven’t won a single game this season.
Right. The way to be ‘in disguise’ for a school mascot is to go sans mascot costume. Of course they could just check off what mascots are there and then guess he’s the mascot who hasn’t shown up. Anyway I think it’s clever.

Wasn’t the Albuquerque mascot voted the best mascot? The one for their the Isotopes?
True, but they are the only team represented here that have not won the big prize.
Possibly some are wearing another’s costume?
