With Strange Brew, Deering -- famous for his biting humor and political savvy as chief editorial cartoonist for the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette -- has an outlet for his creative sense of humor and quirky view of life.
"Being an editorial cartoonist today, you have to be tuned-in to pop culture as well as politics -- but there are some limits to what you can do," Deering says "In Strange Brew, everything’s fair game. I get to cut loose and draw anything."

I don’t know what “Hamburger Helper” is and I dont think I want to know. Onions, steak….what more do you need?
Notsoastute said, 8 months ago
@pcolli
It is a "mix’ sold here in the states that consists of pasta (macaronni),a bunch of salt and some dehydrated cheese and dehydrated milk. Not to mention the usual list of chemicals to “preserve freshness” .

I thought it was a Canadian invention, but I can’t believe you people have never HEARD of it. What rock are you living under, pcolli?

The rock of reality where hamburgers are made of meat.

The “Helper” is added to hamburger meat that you provide and brown then add the mix and water. No hamburger patties involved. You are from the UK, am I correct?

Astute, he is compounding his ignorance. And I disagree at least partly with your reasoning. You add half a pound (or a pound—-or should I say 225 g or 450g) of “ground beef” to the Helper mix. What is that if not hamburger patties? Even if they are not exactly round?
