If getting up early is too much trouble perhaps she could stay up really late…

Do newspapers still have kids deliver? Up here in these parts they got rid of the kids about 15 years ago. Our son had a Sunday only route. Taught him a lot and put a lot of cash in his pocket. At 7 years old he had about $150 a month in cash in his pocket.

Not impossible, just not common anymore.

Our paper is delivered at 3am, by a guy with a 1500 house route.

You’ve got to be kidding! How many papers was he delivering? By bicycle or did he pull a wagon? I guess you must live in a really safe neighborhood to let a 7 year old out by himself every day.

When I was in high school I delivered 40-60 papers 7 days per week and only cleared $5-10 per week.

He looks old enough to have a driver’s license.

Maybe he does and that’s what drew Holly to him being a few years older! Not out of the realm of possibilities!

Oh, boy. Holly’s eyeing someone who’s making money.
    Stay far away, young man.

I remember my big sister having a crush on the paper boy when she was in junior high school (almost 60 years ago).

What time of day does he come around to get paid?

Delivers at 6AM. You’re not up yet.
    Isn’t that redundant?

My 2nd stepson had a paper route about 20 years ago, but it was in a townhouse community. He delivered to about 5 courts, starting at 5 am. I believe he had the route from age 12 to 14. Now, in a different neighborhood of separate houses, we have an overweight, middle aged man deliver in a beat up suv.

I don’t think it’s the “money making” that has Holly’s attention, plus it’s only a paper boy job which isn’t exactly a diamond mine gig.
