Oh, how would I (emphasis on “I”) would like to world travel in my later years as well. England with my older brother two years ago when we were 29 and 27 respectively personally isn’t good enough.

.. 20-25 years.. oh come on, Rena looks over 60 with the hair and glasses, are they working to 75? She should be able to say 25 months.. but yeah, retirement.. nice concept.

Love Val’s single tooth in the second panel, really enhances her dignity !

Also, being retired isn’t all that it is cracked up to be, my wife and I have been called for jury duty twice in two years in a county with a population of over two hundred thousand. It should have been at least five years plus I know some people in the same county who have never been called.

Enjoy the life you have now. As the country song says " You’re gonna miss this. You’re gonna want this back…".

That isn’t Val’s tooth, IndyMan. That’s the way Jan draws an open mouth when the bottom lip is pulled down. Maybe the colorist should have made it pink, as the women’s tongues are in the other panels. The way it’s colored now, though, you’re right – it does make her look like a doofus.

Isn’t that jury duty thing weird? And frustrating! I’ve been called 3 times in the past 9 years in a county with a population over a million. None of my relatives or friends have ever been called!

It’s not like you are working in the mines ladies. Do you really want to skip ahead 20 years?

I was about 67 when I was last laid off; very few consulting firms here and none were for me. My last place in Illinois would still take me if I moved back (I visited when I was there in 2013).

I moved for the weather in 1998 and love Phoenix and my house, so I just have to do the best I can on SSA and my various IRAs. and I’ve had time to do some paintings for my walls.

Yeah – same thing happened here. I HATE jury duty. They say it’s based on the “lottery” system. If so, I’m a winner BIG time (and our county is way more than two hundred thousand).

How sweetly naive, thinking that they’ll be able to retire some day… rather than being carried out of their cubicles in body bags

Same here. The final straw was Grand Jury duty in Syracuse over the summer. I politely declined and became a FL citizen. So far, not a peep in 17 years.
