So, what is it this office/cubicle job Val (and Rena) has anyway?

The “Fill-in-the-blank” Project? What is this, the 1950’s?

Physical files and folders? Does Val work in the 1980s?

I have no idea what their work is, but it all sounds extremely boring. No wonder they both seem very unhappy at work in past strips.

Reference to an old Red Foxx bit? (Suggett)?

The paperless office never materialized. Unless you work in tech every office has hanging drawers full of file folders.

This is sort of like me and my sis when we come home from school.
    “Any homework?”
    “Nope. snicker
“I’m giving you my math homework.”

I’d venture that the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation still has physical folders for its clients (or whatever term they’re using now). If computers are down, you have to be able to access records.. Folders were going strong when I retired in 1998.

Kaiser Permanente has gone completely paperless. I asked my doctor what would happen if the computers went down. He said their mainframe is in an insulated room someplace with a backup generator. I still don’t feel completely confident.

Now you’ve made me feel less confident, too.
