I would like to try the duck confit; never had that poultry before.

Went to a fancy French restaurant in NYC with my wife, my brother-in-law and his wife. We men ended up ordering Kobe steaks. So much for an opportunity to try something new.

I too would like trying the duck
    comfit…never had it. What does
    Phil’s new position involve?

Wouldn’t want to pay loads to “try something new” either unless I was somewhat certain I would like it.

Tends to be rather heavy and greasy, I didn’t like it much.

This will probably be the first time they’ve actually had good hamburgers, instead of greasy precooked fast food slop. They’ll never set foot inside McDonalds again after this!

No heavier or greasier than a drippy cheeseburger!

My girls would order burger and fries ANYPLACE. We once had a Chinese restaurant in a tizzy because they just plain didn’t have it in the kitchen. When the girls each turned 18, hubby would take them to Haussner’s (a very fancy, no longer in business place in Baltimore) and he threatened to walk out and leave Eldest daughter to pay the check if she ordered “the usual”.

When growing up, Dad would occasionally take the family out for dinner at the fanciest restaurant in the city. My little brother would always order “a hamburger and a chocolate milkshake”.

Oh, I think duck is tasty. Growing up, we went to my grandfather’s for Thanksgiving and we never had turkey, only duck. It’s so much moister and tastier than other poultry.

It’s all in how you raise kids. From when they were babies, I always fed them different things, and now my kids will eat (or at least try) anything. One of their favorites is octopus, and my oldest loves sardine sandwiches.
I never understood why you need to give toddlers chicken nuggets or buttered pasta. That stuff is easy to like. Give them veggies and flavorful food, and that will be normal to them.

Whenever I go to a restaurant I always order the same thing. Liver and onions (and bacon if they have it). Love it and can’t get it at home. Usually drives the other people at the table crazy, though.

My parents would take me to all sorts of restaurants. The only stipulation was that I had to eat whatever I ordered—if I didn’t—the next time we went out it was either a hamburger or hot dogs ! ! Also, we usually would be with business associates of my father so I was to be on my best(normal)behavior.
