Jan Eliot's funny and irreverent Stone Soup follows the saga of an extended, blended family, starring two working-mom sisters living just across the fence from each other. Val and Joan share life with their opinionated mother, a middle-school diva and 10-year-old tomboy, a reclusive teenage boy, a wild preschooler and his new baby sister...and of course Wally, the ultimate nice guy who steps into his stepdad shoes with grace amid the chaos. Working-parent hassles, pre-school tantrums, middle-school angst, love and the single mom... it's all here in Stone Soup.

I can’t help both laughing AND learning.

Could have tried the old aspirin between the knees trick.
Some folks seem to think that will work!

Don’t get me wrong, I appreciate that she is grateful, because it is a great gift. But jeeeeeez … he didn’t give her a trip around the world. It is just Paris. It is not like that costs THAT much in this day and age.

It’s not the cost, it’s the thought. Paris still conjures images of romance. I’ve been there several times, and every time it felt like something special, whether going by myself or with my son.

That may work for a woman. For a guy? Not so much. LOL!
Night-Gaunt49 said, 6 months ago
Yes birth control, both should practice but usually it is the woman who must do it and even then the guy won’t like it.

IN PRAISE OF OLDER WOMEN
They don’t yell
They don’t swell
And they’re grateful as hell

I laughed at Val’s comment, and hope to everything holy AND unholy that Holly learns from it. :)

Practice birth control??? No, you want it perfected!!!
HareBall said, 6 months ago
At Holly’s age she should be being taught abstinence, not birth control.

Yeah, and meanwhile Ben is taking an “air bath” in the gardens with some young ones.

How about just saying “NO”…

@HareBall
And when abstinence doesn’t work you end up with an oops. Teaching birth control is a great backup plan in case abstinence doesn’t work
