Could have tried the old aspirin between the knees trick. Some folks seem to think that will work!

It’s not the cost, it’s the thought. Paris still conjures images of romance. I’ve been there several times, and every time it felt like something special, whether going by myself or with my son.

At Holly’s age she should be being taught abstinence, not birth control.

My grandmother told me that “A guy can chase a girl better with his pants up vs them around their ankles”. I was so horrified at what she said that it’s taken me years to respect what she said as the truth.

You are right. Teaching birth control doesn’t mean not teaching abstinence, too. Teaching the pros and cons of every method is appropriate. The biggest problem is not teaching anything thing at all.

It’s not the cost. When you’re a work-from-home mom with three kids to look after, even Peoria looks special.

Sorry, but women have to protect themselves against pregnancy, particuliry if they are multi partner. They have much more to lose.

About $3000 for a couple going for one week and up depending on the hotel etc. That’s not small change.

For someone like me who’s barely left her own state, it’s an amazing gift. Not sure I’d get on an airplane in order to enjoy the gift though.

It’s probably all expenses paid since Wally won it! Hate to have to pay the taxes on it though. And as Al Franken once said: abstinence works until it doesn’t!

Back in 1978 my husband’s Alma Mater, MIT, advertised one of those travel packages – these brochures come around all the time, and we usually say, “Yeah, sure.” But THIS time, the cost of a 14+ day ttrip to Switzerland and Paris was $600 each, with continental breakfast and just having to get our hides up to Boston on our own. That was a fantastic price, even then, so we went in August. (My mother spent each night with my teenage daughters, the older of which had her nose out of joint, but she survived.) Actually, we enjoyed Switzerland more than Paris, where we had an airless hotel and a not-so-great view of oudoors. IMHO,Paris seemed kind of dingy by comparison.

I got married when I was 18. I was abstinent until marriage, but I was very glad my high school taught me about birth control. I knew what options I had when I did get married.

Janina has it right. Life is about choices, but choices should be made with as much information as possible. Made that mistake 42 years ago, and still think about it and wonder how that child might have turned out.

A trip to Paris, France is still expensive…a trip to Paris, (name any state) not so much. A trip around the world is prohibitive. for most work-a-day folk.

In case abstinence doesn’t work? Wow, that person would have to be totally out of control…because even in the heat of passion you can come to your senses…there is no excuse for not using BC…ANY kind.
