Social Security is funded, it’s not part of the problem. Yes, the GOP spent the trust fund on tax cuts, but SS still has the government bonds, and if you’re claiming that there’s no trust fund, you’re also claiming that government bonds are worthless. Nothing a tax hike back to the Clinton rates won’t fix.

    “what difference does it make?”
Way past caring, the government will do what it does without our input.
Mostly I just hope my children will survive, some days it does not look hopefull.

While SS IS secure for the next few decades, the “baby boomer” thing does say some adjustments will be necessary, but NOT gutting the system like Republicans want to do. BTW, essentially “privatizing” my group health insurance doubled the premiums and increased four-fold the “copays” and reduced the drugs on my formulary. THAT is what Republicans want to see, along with eliminating ALL pensions, public and private, forcing folks to “Invest” in a corrupted banking/“investment” system written by folks like Phil Gramm into law.
