Get rid of the things that make us a beacon to the world, keep the things that will make us third world.

The man cannot accept that government can do one single thing right. Why does he want to be president? I find public broadcasting to be the most informative place on the dial, and the only place I can actually hear rational conservatives, since they’re largely barred from the clown-show stations. The idea that we can cut $400 million from public broadcasting as one of only two ideas of how to pay for $7 trillion in new deficit spending is laughable. (That the other idea — eliminating Obamacare — would actually COST $100 billion — only goes to prove how lacking in seriousness Romeny/Ryan are.)

the amount Romney would ‘save’ by eliminating PBS would be sucked up by the military in about 2 minutes

Oh, They have plans on eliminating other things, They just won’t talk about them. Medicare, Medicaid, ACA. EPA, USDA, etc. Just like Bush got rid of FEMA….. and then Katrina hit.

Politifact has rated the whole “Romney hates Big Bird” rhetoric as “pants on fire”.

Sesame Street takes in so much money from license fees, royalties, and corporate donations that even the production company itself admits that it would survive without federal funding.
[]
As such, they’d much rather that Obama & co. leave them out of any debates concerning federal funding for PBS.

Big bird may survive, but what about the rest of of PBS? Sesame Street is just a small part of the programming.

There’s actually precedent for older PBS shows airing on other networks: Liberty’s Kids and The Busy World of Richard Scarry have been airing off-and-on as part of This.TV’s kids’ lineup since 2009.
[]
I’m thinking that if PBS was smart, they’d get with the local affiliates responsible for producing certain shows & the creative talent behind said shows to work out plans for licensing and syndication. Even if a show is no longer airing on PBS, they might still be able to make money by licensing the episodes out to another network.

The thing with the dog-cage and Big Bird are getting old. All Cartoonists have enough material to attack Romney on the things that real matter, like his stance on abortion or his $5 trillion tax cut. Let’s nail him where it hurts…

^One of my most hilarious memories of law enforcement had to do with our Rambler station wagon “patrol car”, but it’s a long story involving arresting a naked junkie and a large crowd of “innocent bystanders”.
Regarding PBS however, and many other programs that affect “innocent bystanders” the real issue isn’t the bird Romney is flipping the public, but all the “Miss Piggys” supporting him.

I think this is funny. The point of it is that its sad that Romney can’t give us any real details on how he going to save money but the only one he can nail down is PBS which is chump change. Its the act of picking on something so minor and make it look like its going to help the deficit (which it won’t). What Romney did was unethical and a pure publicity stunt that has backfired on him. The Democrats should of not brought it in on the adds even though they are for supporting a insitution that is about as unbiased and educational then anything else out there. Latest debates I have been reading, the GOP people are even saying it was tasteless what he did. First time I have seen Dems and GOP agree on something.

^Why give money to a corporation that doesn’t need it? You mean like Exxon, Halliburton, et al?

‘Latest debates I have been reading, the GOP people are even saying it was tasteless what he did.’
-
Yeah, it was tasteless and Willard has many, many other faults and character flaws, including cowardice.
-
But Republicans/Fox “News” viewers don’t care, they only hate Obama.
-
They would elect someone who would tie his dog to the top of a car for 12 hours rather than Obama.
