    Will it go ’round in circles ? Will it fly high like a bird up in the sky ? Uh, huh.

    Like a circle in a spiral. like a wheel within a wheel,
    Never ending or beginning in a never ending reel…
    Like the circles that you find,
    In the windmills of your mind.

    I live near the Altamont Pass Wind Farm, one of the earliest in the U.S. Many of our [20+ year old] wind turbines are being replaced with “eco-friendly” turbines that will (hopefully) reduce the avian impact (especially raptors).
    The new turbines tower 326 feet above the landscape. Each of the three rotor blades is 150 feet long; nearly the width of a football field. And in high winds, the blades can spin at a speed of up to 180 miles per hour.

    @finkd

    Those poor birds look like the melody has been scared right out of them.

    I’ve got a song I ain’t got no melody
    How’m I gonna sing it with my friends

    Billy Preston, Love it!!! ;)

    And how exactly do you think the electricity gets from the wind generators to the power grid? Oh yeah… power lines!

    Now if we can just do something about feral cats, birds may well survive.
