Somewhere in this great nation is a top-secret government agency in charge of providing aid to America's nonhuman citizenry. Perpetually overworked and underpaid, these dedicated civil servants soldier on with a dedication exceeded only by their respective passions for heavy rifles, stylish footwear, and good sturdy squeaky toys. They're not our country's best nor our country's brightest, but to all the lost and lonely creations of misguided science wandering the wild places of this country, they are a beacon of minimum-wage hope. This is their story.

Agencies like the Corps of Engineers were the varsity in 1992. Professional and they knew how to do their jobs well. I had the privilege of working for such outfits before the times of PC fell. Indeed, it’s scary that I worked on the very last major public works project every done in the U.S. in the mid 1990s.
Clinton and the 103rd Congress changed it all. Now half or more of any given Federal agency doesn’t even have the required degree for their job slots.

What do you expect? GenX has three requirements or they raise hell, easy management jobs, high pay, no work required. And never give a bad evaluation to a GenX, they’ll run up the management chain trying to get you fired in a heartbeat.

In these times of Depression all that changed. As for “PC” what do you really mean here? PC is so vague it really has no stable meaning. Get more direct please Nabuquduriuzhur?

Why did Personal Computers ( or did you mean Plaid Cymru?) lower job standards in the public sector?

Perhaps the land of opportunity has become the land of mediocrity?

As a GenXer myself, unfortunately, I have to agree with you. I try to be as opposite as possible in that regard. I’d like to think that my parents raised me right!
