Aha! Copyright infringement! It turns out “Meow Mix” is in fact a registered trademark of the Del Monte Corporation. How this strip got past the censors is beyond me… Shame on you, Brookins and MacNelly, shame!

Probably one of the modern-day Robin Hoods who think nothing of stealing from the poor to give to the rich.

Newspapers and comic strips are generally exempt from copyright infringement when reporting on a copyrighted item or lampooning the same.

First she burns meals for her clients, now she’s burning tunes for her cat.

Ever look at the crossword puzzles in newspapers such as The New York Times? They constantly have references to brand names. (I should know, I’m a crossword puzzle writer, myself, whose work has appeared in that paper. Hence, my name.) If we can do it with our crosswords, cartoonists should be able to do it in their strips.

I’ll bet Ted Nugent’s ‘Cat Scratch Fever’ may be amongst those tunes Roz is downloading for her cat…along with Al Stewart’s ‘Year of the Cat’ or Loggins & Messina’s ‘Long Tailed Cat’.
