    Did somebody have a problem with FedEx they wouldn’t resolve? LOL You know these artists often draw on their personal experiences. UPS is no better; and their excuse is “we handle millions of parcels everyday with the utmost care blah, blah, blah…….”

    I knew it. They DO throw the ones marked “FRAGILE” underhand.

    At different times in my career, I have worked for both United Parcel Service and the W. Atlee Burpee Co. gardening giant. UPS has a strict quota on how many packages have to be loaded or unloaded from a tractor-trailer, 1200 an hour (one every 3 seconds).
    When I worked for Burpee seeds, I got at least two independent complaints from customers that their packages, clearly marked “LIVE PLANTS”, were treated as soccer balls by “Under Paid Slaves”!

    @AshburnStadium

    It is very hard to imagine anyone from UPS being underpaid, what do their drivers get…..$30-35 and hour?
    AND even if there were such a thing as “slave” labor at UPS it still isn’t cause to ruin peoples articles.

    As a former UPS employee, I can say they pay well, but you have to be willing to work in prison camp conditions.

    on /. i saw an experiment run where they put impact sensors, and gravity devices (accelerometers and compression/direction change). FedEx did best all-around, with USPS next, and UPS worst for violent position change and shock/impacts to packages marked FRAGILE, and not much to say about any of them for events occuring to normal, unmarked stuff. Result? you want the best treatment, don’t put stickers on them.

    There’s really no point in wasting ink marking packages ‘fragile’ or ‘protect from extremes in temperatures’ if you’re going to hand them over to UPS. They don’t even pay attention to ‘this side up’. I don’t have enough experience with FedEx to know if they’re any different, but certainly UPS treats all packages as if they were indestructible.

    I like the arrow pointing up in the “FedUp” logo, like the one between the E and the X in the “FedEx” one. Nice touch.
